Earth Day is finally here, and this year's theme is "Planet vs. Plastics"!

Did you know that the ENR2 building was designed to help reduce plastic use? The building includes unfinished concrete and metal materials, avoiding the use of coatings, particularly acrylic paints. Acrylics are polymer paints composed of more than one-third plastic. Want to learn more fun facts about ENR2? Check out the building's Instagram account!

But wait, there's more! SFS Earth Week is a weeklong celebration hosted by the Office of Sustainability, Students for Sustainability, and partner organizations with festivities April 22-26.

"Community is everything," said Halley Hughes, a graduate student in agricultural education and co-director of Students for Sustainability. "We all share this planet, so long-lasting sustainability can only be reached by all of us working together. That's why we so deeply value the privilege of University support and funding."

Earth Week celebrations include:

  • Sustainability Summit | April 22, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
  • Princess Mononoke Movie Screening | April 23, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
