Grace Adams is a senior studying Environmental Science with an emphasis on Leadership, Sustainability, and Communication. As the outreach and communications team lead for Compost Cats and through her other various activities, Adams has worked to shift the UArizona campus culture toward sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Associate professor of anthropology Stacey Tecot has conducted field work in Madagascar for decades - work that would not be possible without the local researchers and guides who share their wealth of ecological knowledge. Now, Tecot is in the final stages of a storytelling project to preserve and center that knowledge and inspire the next generation of ecologists and biologists in Madagascar.

The new Tasting Tomorrow project will allow people to share knowledge about native ingredients in an effort to preserve and adapt traditional recipes and food preparation knowledge.

After completing a bachelor's degree in justice and law from American University, Brian Dempsey began a BS in pharmaceutical science at the University of Arizona in 2023. One day, he hopes to incorporate a knowledge of science and a passion for justice to make medicines that alleviate suffering and advocate for constructive policy changes.

Winslow Burleson started his summer with a camping trip 21 feet underwater in the ocean biome at Biosphere 2. He spent the night in an inflatable tent and worked with a robot to collect samples from the ocean.

The Supreme Court recently ruled against the Navajo Nation, denying their water rights and exacerbating the severe water crisis on their reservation. With approximately 30% of households lacking running water, the Navajo community has been grappling with the consequences of this long-standing issue. Despite efforts dating back to the 1950s, the 1868 treaty that established the reservation did not include provisions guaranteeing water access for the Navajo. This unresolved issue continues to adversely affect the Navajo community, contributing to high death rates during the COVID-19 pandemic and highlighting the pressing need for a resolution.

The start of the 2023 monsoon season also marks the start of the third Southwest Monsoon Fantasy Forecasts game, which brings together amateur forecasters to compete against one another with their monsoon season predictions.
