About the Resilience Internships and Student Experiences (RISE) Program
The RISE Program is hosted by the Arizona Institute for Resilience (AIR) and provides undergraduate and graduate students with paid internships related to resilient environments and societies. RISE internships give students experience in workplace settings with an opportunity to grow their interpersonal skills and prepare them for careers after graduation.
About the Paws Without Borders:
Paws Without Borders is a 501c3 organization based in Tucson, AZ. We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abused, abandoned, and neglected dogs from Mexico and throughout Arizona. We partner with rescues and independent rescuers throughout Hermosillo, Tijuana, and Auga Prieta Mexico as well as throughout Arizona including Pima Animal Control Center (PACC), Santa Cruz Animal Care and Control, as well as the Navajo and Apache Reservations. Much of our work is in providing lifesaving medical care for street dogs but we also have a robust foster program in Tucson, Arizona, with over 30 dogs currently in our foster program. We raise funds for the care of these animals (food, medical, training, rehabilitation etc.) as well as the care and feeding of animals at our sister shelter in Hermosillo, Mexico – Vidas con Causa.
Internship summary:
We are seeking an intern to develop our social media (Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok) presence as well as write and distribute our monthly newsletter. Further, we are seeking someone to assist with updating our website and keeping the content fresh (i.e. weekly updates to our adoptables page etc.)
Internship description:
The intern will be responsible for developing daily content for social media posts (5-6 posts weekly – posts, reels, stories). The intern will be responsible for updating the website as needed (may require weekly updates for adoptable dogs). Intern will be responsible for developing drafts of a new monthly newsletter sent out to supporters.
Compensation:
The intern will be compensated by the University of Arizona. The pay rate is $18/hour.
How to Apply:
Applicants must be active U of A students enrolled in at least 6 credits. The intern will be hired as a U of A student employee. Student employees are limited to 25 hours/week (20 hours/week for international students) across ALL U of A positions.
