Position Title: Community Engagement Intern

Hours/Week: 15 hr/ week

Internship Date Range: October 25 - December 25

About the Resilience Internships and Student Experiences (RISE) Program

The RISE Program is hosted by the Arizona Institute for Resilience (AIR) and provides undergraduate and graduate students with paid internships related to resilient environments and societies. RISE internships give students workplace setting experience with an opportunity to grow their core skills and prepare them for careers after graduation.

About the Community Gardens of Tucson: Community Gardens of Tucson (CGT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing local residents with the space, tools, and support to grow food, build community, and promote sustainable gardening practices throughout the Tucson area. CGT operates twenty-one community gardens and hosts educational and community-centered events.

Internship description:

The Community Gardens of Tucson (CGT) internship offers meaningful experience in nonprofit communications and community engagement. The intern will support outreach efforts, assist with gardener recruitment, and contribute to CGT’s digital content, including newsletters and website updates. Additional responsibilities may include helping with event coordination and tracking engagement metrics.

This role is ideal for individuals interested in urban agriculture, sustainability, and grassroots organizing. Interns will gain practical skills in nonprofit operations while contributing to CGT’s mission of building resilient, connected communities through gardening.

Compensation:

The intern will be hired and paid by the University of Arizona. The pay rate is $19/hour.

Credit Requirements:

The intern will be hired as a U of A student employee.

o For internships during the academic year: applicants must be active U of A students enrolled in at least 6 credits.

Allowable Work Hours:

● During the semester, student employees are limited to 25 hours/week (20 hours/week for international students) across ALL U of A positions.
