AIR Tech Student Position

The Arizona Institute for Resilience (AIR) is a research institute under the University of Arizona’s  Research, Innovation & Impact. We are a collection of faculty, researchers, and staff located in the ENR2  building conducting impactful research on a global scale. We are seeking a self-motivated, mature,  highly responsible student to perform the duties of Research Technology and Development Support  Specialist. If you have an interest in technology, would like to expand your skill set, and are looking for the opportunity to create and support resume worthy projects, you should apply! Student must be  available for at least 15 - 20 hours per week. 

Job Duties: 

Student will contribute to defined projects and assignments under the direction and supervision of AIR’s  R&D Systems Engineer and Research Technology Director. Outside of ongoing projects, the student will  also provide technical support to AIR’s users, help to maintain, support, and deploy AIR-managed  hardware (desktops, laptops, and A/V equipment), and other duties as assigned. The student is expected  to work on ongoing projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and working  collaboratively with other student workers and staff. 

Required Skills and Experience: 

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.  

• Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.  

• Some experience with Python, R, or other C-based languages. 

• General information technology, desktop support, and Operating System knowledge (Windows  10/11 and macOS). 

Desired (not required) Experience:  

• Some experience with data analysis using common data science practices. 

• Some experience with Drupal 10 or other Content Management Systems.  

• Proficient with HTML, JS, CSS, and standards-based web development.  

• Some experience Vue.js, React, or other JS frameworks. 

• Some experience with Linux. 

• Some experience with A/V equipment, equipment setup, and troubleshooting.
