RISE Internship: Junior Associate at TANGO
Position Title: Junior Associate
Reports to: TANGO Senior Associate, TANGO Managing Partners
Hours/Week: 15 to 20 hours/week
Internship Date Range: Flexible/rolling start date – May 2027
Location: Remote
About the Resilience Internships and Student Experiences (RISE) Program
The RISE Program is hosted by the Arizona Institute for Resilience (AIR) and provides graduate students with paid internships related to resilient environments and societies. RISE internships give students experience in workplace settings with an opportunity to grow their core career skills and prepare them for careers after graduation.

Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of TANGO staff, the intern will:
- Support primary and secondary research for existing assignments, including evaluations, assessments, policy papers, strategy documents, guidelines, and/or literature reviews.
- Contribute to the preparation of business proposals for new and existing workstreams.
- Contribute to report writing under the supervision of senior staff.
- Copy editing and formatting reports and PowerPoints as needed, including production of relevant tables, figures, charts, and other data visualization mediums.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Intern will gain skills/experience in:
- Research for program evaluations and studies for INGOs and UN agencies
Business development/proposal development processes in the international development sector
- Monitoring and evaluation systems, processes and standards used in the humanitarian and development sector
- Communication and coordination skills in complex, international and fast-paced settings
Qualifications
Education and Training
Required: It is a required qualification for RISE Internships that the intern is a currently enrolled student at the University of Arizona.
It is required for the intern to be pursuing or have completed Master’s degree in relevant field of study.
Experience
- Report writing
- Primary and/or secondary research, including literature reviews
- Data analysis experience (qualitative and/or quantitative)
Skills
- Able to deal with multiple demands, shifting priorities, and rapid change in day-to-day work environment
- Time management
- Driven, motivated individual
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English
- Flexible, responsible, self-motivated
- Works well alone and with others, particularly in remote environment
- Excellent writing ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Desired but Not Required
- Proficiency in basic data visualization techniques
- Proficiency in statistical analysis (SPSS or STATA)
- Written and oral fluency in another language (French, Spanish, Arabic, etc.)
Time Commitment
Work hours are flexible, as TANGO International has staff located globally across time zones. Ideally, an intern will have availability between 9am – 5pm Arizona time to allow for direct engagement with Tucson-based staff and have flexibility to participate in evening meetings with staff located outside of the U.S. as needed.
Compensation:
Interns will be compensated at an hourly rate of $20 USD. Interns will be hired directly by TANGO.
