Supporting Sustainable Businesses with Local First Arizona

At this month's Curiosity Club, join Local First Arizona staff Jason Lowry (Director of Sustainability Initiatives) and Jessica Barfield (Director of Tucson Business Development) as they interview a panel of local business owners ― and SCALE UP graduates! ― from across Tucson. The panel will share about their experiences in SCALE UP, their (ongoing) journeys as entrepreneurs as well as how they're improving sustainability in their businesses even now.

SCALE UP (Sustainable Communities Accessing Lending and Expertise Upon Performance) is an award-winning program that offers a comprehensive seven-week workshop series for locally-owned and operated independent businesses and nonprofits in Arizona. Sponsored by the State of Arizona, each cohort offers the unique opportunity for businesses to go from education and collaboration to planning, financing, benchmarking, and implementation — all in one accessible package.

About the speakers:

Originally from Raton, New Mexico, Jessica Barfield uses Local First Arizona's platform and programming within the community to connect like-minded people and businesses to the resources they need to thrive. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Leadership & Marketing and is an entrepreneur at heart that loves to travel and enjoys meeting new people.

Jason Lowry returned to Arizona from Texas in 2020 to make it his and his family's home. Since joining Local First Arizona, Jason works to increase the reach and impact of Local First Arizona’s statewide sustainability programs — SCALE UP, Green Business Certification, and the Charge Ahead Challenge.
