As an ORISE participant and under the guidance of a mentor, you will have the opportunity to hone their skills by collaborating on a wide array of tasks pertaining to government archaeology, such as, data collection and recovery, data management, lab analysis, report writing and document preparation for archaeological sites, compliance, and historic properties. The goal of the internship is primarily to provide you experience in a fast-paced environment; however, you may also have the opportunity to develop and carry out small-scale research projects depending on task load and interest.

This opportunity is ideal for a graduate student pursuing a degree in law or a related policy field, with an interest in Western water law and administrative law. The role offers hands-on experience with critical water management issues, including legislative history research, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement related to the Colorado River Basin. The Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection (CSDP) protects the biodiversity of the Sonoran Desert in southern Arizona through science-based advocacy, education, and collaboration. This intern will assist the Conservation Science Director with maintaining CSDP’s wildlife camera photo database to help translate community science into tangible conservation in our Wildlife Camera Program. The intern will gain knowledge in wildlife camera research, photo database management, image analysis software, and wildlife species identification through image analysis.

The LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund Needs Assessment Intern will provide critical support to the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA) by conducting a comprehensive needs assessment of approximately 80 grantees affiliated with the LGBTQ Alliance Fund.
Working closely with CFSA’s Community Impact Team, the intern will build relationships with nonprofit partners, develop meaningful insights, and support efforts to amplify the voices of Southern Arizona’s LGBTQ+ community.

The Center for Biological Diversity’s Southwest program seeks motivated and organized interns dedicated to protecting biodiversity and preventing species extinctions. Interns will work with Center scientists to gain protections for imperiled species. The internship is paid and will provide valuable experience with one of the nation’s most consequential environmental organizations.
