Environmental Education and Youth Programs - Saguaro National Park

Position Information

  • Start Date: October 12, 2026
  • End Date: May 14, 2027
  • Pay: $19.89/hour
  • Schedule: Tuesday–Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. plus alternating Saturdays
  • Duty Station: West District of Saguaro National Park

What You’ll Do

  • Lead educational programs in the park, in classrooms, and online
  • Work with kids, students, families, and visitors of all ages
  • Create interpretive activities, games, props, visual aids, and outreach materials
  • Help with family programs, evening programs, youth volunteer projects, and community events
  • Support visitor center operations and public programming
  • Work closely with park staff and help strengthen connections with local communities

Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth is preferred
  • Comfortable hiking on and off trail in rugged desert terrain and different weather conditions
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Completed at least two years of college, preferably in education, science, communication, recreation, or a related field
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Able to work independently and manage responsibilities
  • Must pass a federal background check
  • Must be between 18–30 years old at the start of the internship
  • Spanish, O’odham, or Yoeme language skills are a plus
