Environment America is a national network of 30 state environmental groups. Our staff work together for clean air, clean water, clean energy, wildlife and open spaces, and a livable climate. Our members across the United States put grassroots support behind our research and advocacy.

The Dredging Operations and Environmental Research (DOER) Program supports the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Operation and Maintenance Navigation Program. Research is designed to balance operational and environmental initiatives and to meet complex economic, engineering, and environmental challenges of dredging and disposal in support of the navigation mission. Research results will provide dredging project managers with knowledge and technology for cost-effective operation, evaluation or risks associated with management alternatives, and environmental compliance.

Conservation Legacy provides support for local conservation service programs under the leadership of a national organization, delivering high quality programming in communities across the country to produce enduring impact through local action.

As an ORISE participant and under the guidance of a mentor, you will have the opportunity to hone their skills by collaborating on a wide array of tasks pertaining to government archaeology, such as, data collection and recovery, data management, lab analysis, report writing and document preparation for archaeological sites, compliance, and historic properties. The goal of the internship is primarily to provide you experience in a fast-paced environment; however, you may also have the opportunity to develop and carry out small-scale research projects depending on task load and interest.

Langan is seeking an Environmental Intern / Co-op to join its collaborative team in Phoenix, AZ. This individual will serve a key function in providing assistance with environmental, mining, and EHS related technical aspects of diverse land development projects, both small and large scale. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner directly with environmental leadership and gain exposure to site feasibility studies which may involve field work, technical report preparation and calculations, pre-construction conditions documentation, design plans and specifications.

The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and young adults. Our program participants protect and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks and community green spaces across the country. After working with the SCA, program participants emerge with increased environmental awareness, social responsibility and leadership skills.

We are seeking an intern to assist with ongoing wildlife research projects
in the lab of Dr. Javan Bauder, an Assistant Unit Leader in the AZCRU and Assistant Professor in
SNRE. This internship will last through the Spring 2025 semester and provide up to 25 hours of
work per week depending on the availability of the intern. The intern will work with a graduate
student conducting research on Gambel’s quail north of Tucson (i.e., Oracle Junction). The
intern will obtain field experience with several aspects of wildlife field research including quail
trapping, radio telemetry, nest searching and monitoring, and vegetation surveys. Additional
opportunities may be available to assist with other AZCRU wildlife research projects relating to
reptiles and amphibians depending on intern interest and availability.

The University of Arizona Office of Sustainability Compost Cats Program seeks one to two highly qualified undergraduate or graduate students to assist with educational and outreach activities on and off campus. This includes, but is not limited to, K-12 and community-focused STEM programming/curricula, education and/or outreach events for a wide range of audiences at compost demonstration sites, trainings for commercial business employees, potential operation of small-scale equipment for maintenance of composting systems (please be prepared to get dirty), collection and reporting of metrics or data to the Compost Cats Program Manager, Outreach Coordinator, and/or Public Education Coordinator; participation in zero-waste effort events, and more. The successful candidates will inform and inspire the Tucson community about food waste reduction, materials cycling, soil health, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship.

The University of Arizona Office of Sustainability Compost Cats Program seeks two highly
qualified undergraduate or graduate students to assist with day-to-day operations. This
includes, but is not limited to, the creation and management of compost/composting systems,
waste management, K-12 and community-focused STEM programming/curricula, trainings for
commercial business employees, potential operation of small-scale equipment for organic
materials processing, collection and reporting of data to the Public Education Coordinator, and
the Outreach Coordinator, auditing and/or decontamination of food waste loads (please be
prepared to get dirty), participation in zero-waste effort events, and more. The successful
candidates will inform and inspire the Tucson community about food waste reduction,
materials cycling, soil health, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship.
