Under the supervision of an attorney, a law clerk’s primary responsibilities are to perform legal and factual research, and to develop case strategy and legal theories. Seeking graduate level student to conduct literature review on the topic of cultural use of fire in the Southwest (primary focus on New Mexico and Arizona, but not exclusive of surrounding areas). Outputs will include annotated bibliography with entry into an existing fire/climate literature database, and a literature review. There is potential for further work into the future, including a larger synthesis aimed at helping land managers understand existing knowledge and practitioner interviews. Students from the Southwest or with ties to the Southwest are preferred.

Quick reminder that UAFWS club is still doing volunteer opportunities throughout the summer with the research committee. We will be exploring herpetofauna (reptiles and amphibians of a particular region, habitat, or geological period) in riparian areas and the effects of introduced water on three sites along the Santa Cruz River. Students and volunteers can expect to be involved in distance sampling for herps as well as examining cover boards.

Students Taking Advantage of Research Lab, STAR Lab, is a UA/SARSEF high school outreach lab and mentoring program that supports high school students in long term research projects while meeting the criteria of the UA minors policy.  The STAR Lab Program, while housed in MCB, seeks to match mentors from all fields of science and engineering with interested high school students, to grow the next generation of researchers and engineers.
