Science on the Sonoita Plain Effort Student Worker (due January 16, 2022)

Type of Opportunity:
Location: Variable (Travel Required)
Deadline: Sunday, January 16, 2022

UC3 staff is looking to support the Cienega Watershed Partnership (CWP)'s effort to coordinate a multi-stakeholder event to discuss the current status of natural restoration efforts via a Science on the Sonoita Plain (SOSP) event for spring of 2022. This will be the first event held in the 2020's due to COVID impacts on gatherings. This event may look like a field trip, open house, or other format to be held in May 2022.

We want to recruit 1-2 students to join the 2021-2022 UC3 cohort (will join mid-program) to coordinate a constellation of partners and stakeholders, handle communication, and outreach to the public. This would involve connection with multiple agencies, non-profits, and other partners across the two watersheds and beyond. The student will also be responsible to attend UC3 cohort activities such as training events and cohort meetings throughout the semester. Students will be provided with a stipend of $1,000 upon the conclusion of the program in May 2022.

We specifically wanted to recruit students from Natural Resources, Water Society & Policy, and/or Climate Change in Society (with natural resources background) programs, and are happy to coordinate with students to provide up to 3 credits hours for internship. We anticipate this effort will take 6-10 hours per week that will be split across project and cohort commitments.

Interested students should email me ( by January 16, 2022 with:

  1. Resume/CV
  2. 500 word personal statement on their interest in stakeholder engagement to advance regional natural restoration activities.
